Milton Flyers win 3HL New Years Day Classic

Milton Skates past London to take home first ever 3HL TOUR Event Championship

The Milton Flyers led by Jesse Messier Tournament MVP and former York Lions Captain and OHL Alumni took home the first ever 3HL TOUR Event Championship at the 3HL New Years Day Classic on January 1st, 2017 at the historic Maple Leaf Gardens (Mattamy AC). After squeaking out a closely fought 5-4 OT round 1 victory over the Markham Millionaires, the Flyers never looked back as the easily handled the Guelph Brewers 5-1 in the semi-finals before beating the upstart London 3’s 4-1 in the finals to take home the $7,000 winners share of the $15,000 overall cash purse. While the London 3’s led by Charlie Stephens former NHL Draft pick and London Knights Alumni put in a valiant effort despite playing with a short bench the entire day, putting in a dominating 9-2 performance over a favoured Toronto Bees team in round 1 and then narrowly defeating a surprising Kitchener Lions team 7-6 in a comeback overtime victory in round 2, when the short bench may have caught up to them in the finals as they just couldn’t match Milton’s speed and intensity.

London looks for revenge this coming week on home Ice as the 3HL TOUR shifts to the Budweiser Gardens in London, ON on Sunday January 8th. Tickets are on sale now a www.3HLTOUR.com/tickets or you can get them at the box office at www.budweisergardens.com and using PROMO Code: 3HLFANS tickets are only $9.99.
